Services 1. Californians Connecting to Collections Project A statewide preservation information, education, and training project for California heritage institutions. Funding was received from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. 2. California Audiovisual Preservation Project A statewide initiative to provide digitization and access services for historical California moving image and audio recordings. Funding was received from the California State Library and the Moving Image Archiving and Preservation Program at New York University. 3. California Preservation Assessment Project A statewide project to help small and mid-sized libraries and archives plan improvements in care for their permanent and historical collections. All institutions (libraries, archives, museums, parks, and historical societies) in California with library and archival collections and that provide free public access are eligible to apply. 4. Guide to California Preservation Program Services This document is intended to be printed as a handout [MS Word doc]. It describes the CPP services including this website, joining the discussion list, and the toll-free number for emergencies (1-888-905-7737) This unit is available to provide disaster assistance to libraries, archives, historical societies and cultural institutions. The California Preservation Program Consultants provide assessment, guidance, and administrative recommendations on many aspects of preservation and disasters. Preservation training is available through several workshops offered throughout California. Some of the CPP programs are on book and paper repair training, preserving family treasures, disaster plan writing and practice drying wet materials and others. |
